Deep Diver Speciality
Explore deeper dive sites with confidence at depths down to 40 metres. Learn to manage your gas supply, understand what to watch out for on deeper divers and practice techniques for safe deep diving.
There's something exciting about exploring deeper dive sites and visiting new realms while scuba diving. Sometimes it's a wreck that requires you to dive below 18 metres, or there might be a magical cave calling to be explored. Whatever the subject is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths up to 40 metres, you should enrol in the PADI Deep Diver course.
Through hands-on training over four scuba dives and some previous interactive learning, you'll learn:
- the equipment required for deep diving.
- deep dive planning, buddy contact procedures, safety considerations and buoyancy control
- a better understanding of how the dive environment changes at greater depth
- additional considerations for managing your gas supply and dealing with gas narcosis
You will also have the opportunity to experience diving with a second air cylinder, which brings improved equipment redundancy and safety margins.
The PADI Deep Diver course can also count towards one of the adventure dives for the Advanced Open Water course.
All the equipment necessary for the course can be supplied by Oxford Dive Centre.
